Wootella-lib taking a LONG time
Well, duh. I've been working on Wootella for almost three years now. Most of that time, however, has been spent learning things like how to do network programming, multithreaded programming, software documenting, different libraries, and using the GNU autotools. Because of all those excuses I've made very little progress in actually getting anything written. My goal has been to get wootella-lib functional by the time I move in at Northern Illinois University in the Fall.
However, that is very unlikely to happen. I currently have 60 things on the wootella-lib TODO list, and those items won't even get it connecting to anything, let alone the Gnutella network. Also, there is work that needs to be done on getting the graphical interface redesigned to adhere to the Gnome Human Interface Guidelines. If it wasn't for my determination to have a major project that I have designed and implemented all by myself and my eagerness to help improve the lives of Gnutella developers, I would have quit this project a long time ago.
Since this is the largest project that I've worked on since 1997 or 1998, I'm constantly battling with myself over how much I should let be handled by libraries such as GLib and how much I should code myself.
Documentation is tedious. It has taken me 18 days just to get 67 items documented.
I've yet to make a website for Wootella.
Schedule? I think it would be best if I abandoned all hopes of having this thing done in any sort of schedule until it is functional.
